He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida, in 2008. Dr. Gee received his board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 2010.

Dr. Gee is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as the North American Spine Society, Southern Orthopedic Association, and AO Spine International. He has been an active serviceman in the US Navy, accomplishing the rank of Lieutenant Commander of the United States Naval Reserve.
